Sharon Hinz and Karen Swift are Certified Nurse Midwives (CNM) and Advanced Registered Nurse Practitioners (ARNP).  They met in 1998 while working at a physician-run women's health clinic.  Soon they realized they had similar ideas of what a women's healthcare clinic should entail and began to have aspirations of opening their own clinic.  They wanted a place where women did not feel rushed through appointments, where they knew their every concern and thought was being heard, where they would feel comfortable asking any question and most importantly bringing their family to be involved in their care.  With these goals, and their dreams, they opened WomanCare in 2000.

WomanCare began as a small clinic that attended hospital births, birthing center births, and home births as well as daily clinic practice with OB and gyn care.  As the years grew so did the clinic and soon they were very busy.  They decided to limited their practice to only hospital births; attended at nearby Providence St. Peter's Hospital.  Even with this new alteration they were still incredibly busy.  It quickly became evident that another provider was necessary.  In 2006, they found just who they were looking for in Carie Bussey CNM, ARNP.  Carie had been at WomanCare for one of her clinical rotations as a graduate student.  With her enthusiasm and energy, she was the perfect match to their practice.  Since then, WomanCare has continued to grow and Karen and Sharon set out to hire yet another nurse-midwife in 2009.  Lo and behold, they came upon Lindsay Wilbanks, CNM, ARNP, a recent graduate who came to them all the way from Texas.

WomanCare continues to thrive and grow as more women desire the quality of care we can provide.  Since opening in 2000, WomanCare has helped 2,062 beautiful, strong mothers bring 2,062 amazing, precious babies into this world.
